There is no straight answer to this question. Popup pricing depends on a range of factors, such as the store’s location, the size of the space, duration of the lease and your popup production costs. You should also consider stock costs, staffing, administration fees and marketing spend in your budgeting.
Once we receive your Brand Profile and PopUp Request details, we’ll be able to connect you to opportunities that suit your brief and budget.
Yes. PopUp Shop Shop charges a Sourcing Fee for successful short term leases secured, with a minimum charge of R1000. You can calculate this fee at 20% of the base rental charged by our Property Partners.
Technically, a popup could happen over any duration that’s considered a short period of time but typically, we work with landlords that prefer a minimum 3-6 month pop-up lease to start.
Sometimes spaces are available only for a month or two between two long term tenancies; at other times vacancies may be longer, allowing easy extension of your popup lease or the opportunity to convert to permanent tenancy.
Some of our property partners are happy to accommodate very short popup shops – for just a week, or a weekend.
Yes, it may be possible to extend your tenancy. This is entirely up to the landlord though, as they may have another tenant taking occupation after your popup. The best approach is to let PopUp Shop Shop know as soon as possible if you wish to extend.
Should you wish to stay on as a permanent tenant, you’ll need to negotiate new terms and follow the landlord’s prescribed processes.
PopUp Shop Shop works with many landlords and property owners across South Africa. We have listed some of our property partners here on the website, but we can send your popup request to others in our network too.
When you sign up by submitting your PopUp Request and Brand Profile (via the Get Started button, top right of this page) you will receive popup opportunities that match your requirements.
Then, it’s time to set your popup in motion. Starting with admin, you will need to submit a tenant application and your FICA documents for the landlord’s administration. You will also need to prepare store concept presentation showing the products you intend to sell or promote, and the look ‘n feel and layout of your store, describe your audience and marketing plans.
We will contact you as soon as we have feedback or confirmation of your popup. You will need to confirm your short term lease by signing agreements with the landlord.
PopUp Shop Shop curates collaborative popup shops as special projects from time to time, and we happen to be in the fortunate position to know of upcoming collabs of interest.
